The Burnaby Village Museum offers a full range of programs for kids, youth and adults. Programs include skytrain exploration, heritage arts & crafts, blacksmithing, genealogical workshops, walking tours and more. Find a program for everyone in the family.

"Open Forge" Workshop

Heritage Arts & Crafts Programs

Back by popular demand...Blacksmithing. at "Open Forge" students with previous forge experience can work on their own projects or practise specific techniques.
First Class: April 25, 9am - 1pm

Beauty Care Product Workshop
Create your own skincare products from scratch, just like Grandma used to. This workshop introduces participants to the basic natural ingredients, recipes and methods of making skincare products including bath salts, lip balm and boday creams.

Historica Fair
Awards Ceremony May 2, 2009
Burnaby Village Museum is the proud host of the Rivers to Sea Regional Historica Fair. History's equivalent of the Science Fair, Historica Fairs allow students to create a project on Canadian history and heritage. Projects from grade 4 - 10 students from Burnaby, New Westminster and the Tri-Cities will be on display throughout the village on May 2, 2009

Victoria Day at the Burnaby Village Museum
May 18 - Pomp, Ceremony & Fun
What better way to celebrate Victoria Day than at the living 1920's village - The Burnaby Village Museum. Where pictures of King George V and Queen Mary are still hung in the school house and the Union Jack flies over the site, Victoria Day is celebrated in grand style. Some of the highlights include a village parade, historical re-enactments, dancing, children's crafts and of course birthday cake!

Weekly Fun & Games

Each week during the 2009 summer season, the museum has themed weeks revolving around sports, games and leisure activities. The themed weeks start May 2 and run until September 7

Team Sports - May 2 - 16
Test your hand-eye skills at the hockey net and the basketball challenge. Enjoy a demonstration of one of Canada's national sports - lacrosse - and then try it out for yourself. Test your knowlege at the "Match the Ball to the Sport" Game. Also on hand will be demos and displays by various local sports teams.

Lawn Sports - May 17 - 30
This week, join in on the fun with lawn games such as croquet and badminton. Polish up your Italian with a demonstartion of bocce - then try it yourself. Ever heard of Quoits? This ring-tossing game will test your aiming skills with Crazy Golf is fun for the whole family. Don't miss the draw for the golf

Martial Arts - May 31 - June 13
Marshall your inner strength and open the spiritual connection with your body, mind and spirit at this week's activities. Enjoy interactive demonstartions highlighting a variety of styles from different cultures. Bhangra Martial Arts brings the mysetique of the sub-continent while you can experience the popularity of the Mixed Martial Arts revolution first hand. Young students will demonstrate their expertise at the sport that combines wrestling, kick boxing, judo and more...
