Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Deer Lake Park

This unique “green” community festival produced by the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Rhododendron and Gardens Society features a blend of horticulture and art activities in the heart of Deer Lake Park.  Highlights include free horticultural workshops, specialty products for the avid gardener, commercial plant sales, hands-on activities and entertainment.  You can even adopt your own rhododendron!

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will once again perform it’s annual free summer outdoor concert in Deer Lake Park.  A program of light classics and popular favourites will be performed by a full orchestra.  Come early, bring a picnic basket and settle in for a wonderful evening of symphonic music.  This event is presented by the City of Burnaby and Kinder Morgan, Inc.

Christmas Festivities

To celebrate the Christmas season, the Burnaby Village Museum is artfully decorated with lights and period ornaments during this festive time.  The Village also offers traditional crafts for children, schoolhouse story time, Christmas baking in the Farmhouse, children's entertainers, choirs, demonstrations and exhibits.  And, of course, no visit to the museum is complete without a visit to Father Christmas. Regular admission rates apply.


Giro di Burnaby

Giro di Burnaby Cycling RaceGiro di Burnaby is a 1.85 km Criterium cycle race with top men and women riders competing for over $10,000 in cash prizes on a fast, challenging course throughout the Burnaby Heights neighbourhood. 

The “Giro” will take place on Thursday, July 17th, as part of BC Superweek.

Hats Off Day at The Heights

On the first Saturday of every June, The Burnaby Heights hosts a huge, one-day extravaganza featuring a colourful parade with real local flavour, and a big street party where all the merchants are out in front with treats, giveaways, draws, prizes and special promotions. The event is so named as Heights merchants take their “hats off” to their customers and to the Heights community during this all-day celebration. Last year, Hats Off Day was voted as “Burnaby’s Best Festival.”

The City of Burnaby, in association with Public Dreams Society, presents the Night of 2007 Lights Lantern Festival. In the tradition of Public Dreams' Illuminares event held each year at Trout Lake, a magical community lantern procession winds its way around Deer Lake Park.
