This one-day event – “A Holiday Home Tour” will incorporate tours through nine seasonally decorated homes in the Deer Lake area of Burnaby on Sunday, November 25, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with refreshments and holiday fashions at the Hart House Restaurant at Deer Lake. The entertainment areas of these homes will be open to ticket holders to tour through. Some homes will be professionally decorated and others will be independently decorated by the owners. Four heritage homes are on the tour

Exhibition of Desire, Intuition and Uncertainty Opens at McGill Library

Encounters with Uncertainty, a series of linocut prints by printmaker Pat Beaton opens at the Bob Prittie Library, 6100 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby on March 6. The series, begun in early 2005, showcases Pat’s artistic insights into human nature and relationships with themes of desire, intuition, uncertainty and change.

Pat is an award winning printmaker and leader of community art projects who teaches classes at the Burnaby Art Gallery designed to interpret works in the exhibitions. The hands-on programs and discussions of work on exhibit at the Gallery engage the participants to learn new technical skills, inspire new ideas and aid in the development of personal expression.

Hats Off Day at The Heights

On the first Saturday of every June, The Burnaby Heights hosts a huge, one-day extravaganza featuring a colourful parade with real local flavour, and a big street party where all the merchants are out in front with treats, giveaways, draws, prizes and special promotions. The event is so named as Heights merchants take their “hats off” to their customers and to the Heights community during this all-day celebration. Last year, Hats Off Day was voted as “Burnaby’s Best Festival.”

International Business Book Fair & Educational Seminar

Silent Impressions: Works from the City of Burnaby Permanent Collection opens March 6 and continues to April 8.

(BURNABY, BC) –Silent Impressions opens at the Burnaby Art Gallery March 6. Drawn from the City of Burnaby Permanent Art Collection, Silent Impressions explores how artists have used the embossing technique in conjunction with traditional forms of printmaking to express their ideas. Artists included in the exhibition are Irene Whittome, Bob Steele, Eugene Ouchi and Leszek Wyczólkowski.
