If you’re looking for a snapshot into the past – look no farther than the Burnaby Village Museum.  Nestled in the outskirts of Deer Lake Park, you’ll find this four-hectare open-air museum that features a recreated and restored village, farm, and carousel that transports you back to 1925.

With more than 30 shops and homes mimicking life in the first quarter of the 20th century, you’ll find period-costumed staff welcoming you into their homes and businesses at every turn. Visit the Chinese herbalist, and the blacksmith’s shop, or take a tour on the BC Electric Railway tram.

Wander through the village church, visit the old-fashioned ice-cream parlour for some heritage treats, or take a ride on the restored 1912 carousel, which is accompanied by music from a grand 1925 Wurlitzer organ.  Before beginning your self-paced tour, make sure to pick-up a site map - available in English, Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.
