Harmony, Hilarity and A Beautiful View at the Shadbolt Centre

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is Burnaby’s premier performing arts centre, and offers something for everyone – from thought-provoking dramas and musical delights to laugh-out-loud performances and much more.
Here are just a few of the upcoming events at the Shadbolt Centre:

December 4-5, Christmas with AUGUST – Kick back and enjoy the melody with the musical foursome of AUGUST.  Wit, wisdom, womanhood, harmony, hilarity and hips weave the musical tapestry known as AUGUST.  AUGUST combines four award-winning independent recording artists and singer-songwriters – Rae Armour, Beverley Elliott, Linda Kidder and Meg Tennant – who artfully combine their unique blend of folk, country, bluegrass and pop.  Joined by incomparable guitarist Daryl Jahnke, AUGUST performs original Christmas stories and songs, as well as traditional seasonal favourites and a good, old-fashioned sing-along to lift your spirits.

December 16-19, A Beautiful View - Written and directed by Governor General Award-winner Daniel MacIvor, A Beautiful View is a serio-comic trek across the intangibles of love that examines our affinity for re-writing history in its name.  A friendship between two women is chronicled over 20 years.  Both are camping aficionados who meet while shopping for tents.  The result is one memorable night together.  Their connection is so enigmatic and powerful that it informs and influences their choices for the next two decades – culminating in a quiet note of tragicomedy.
