Burnaby Village Museum Presents a Christmas Wonderland

Visit the Burnaby Village Museum as it brings past and present Christmas traditions, storybooks and songs to life. 
The bouquet of cedar and pine boughs, the sounds of carollers and the sight of old-fashioned ornaments, decorations and festive wreaths will transport visitors to a Christmas wonderland.   Many of this year’s fanciful decorations have been inspired by such classics as: The Nutcracker Suite, ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, O Tannenbaum and the Gingerbread House.

Enjoy the museum’s traditional entertainment, demonstrations and exhibits from the early 1900s.  Get crafty with some hands-on activities, have a chat with Father Christmas and take a whirl on the old-fashioned carousel.

Some of the museum’s seasonal highlights include:

Father Christmas listens to children’s wishes. (Father Christmas represents the spirit of Christmas and is depicted as a lean man wearing a long belted robe and hat.)

Footlight Theatre returns to entertain visitors for another season. During the Heritage Christmas, their play will be presented more than 45 times! Admission to these performances is included with museum entrance.

Baking in the Farmhouse.  Every Sunday before Christmas, visitors will be treated to the smells and tastes of baking – straight from the wood-stove in the kitchen of the Love Farmhouse.

"Twelve Days of Christmas" scavenger hunt. Items mentioned in the song have been placed throughout the site. Pick up your checklist, locate all the items and win a small prize.

The museum will also feature musicians, entertainers, demonstrators, storytellers, community choirs and heritage crafts throughout the holiday season.

Christmas Bureau Night at the Burnaby Village Museum  

On Thursday, December 10th, visit the museum for half-price as part of its special Christmas Bureau Night.  Enjoy Heritage Christmas activities, carousel rides and a variety of entertainment from 4pm to 8pm.  The museum’s half-price admission fees will be donated to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau.
