Along with a distinct and peaceful natural environment in the heart of the city, Deer Lake presents a unique outdoor amphitheatre – which offers a perfect setting to enjoy the sights and sounds of some of the world’s most renowned musicians.
Visit Deer Lake Park this summer to enjoy various concerts, events and festivals, including:
Symphony in the Park, July 12th – Come early and settle in with a comfy blanket and a well-stocked picnic basket to enjoy this memorable event by the notable Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) from 7:30pm to 9:30pm on Sunday, July 12th. As part of this yearly tradition, the VSO will perform a variety of light classics and popular favourites. Co-sponsored by Kinder Morgan, the 20th Annual Symphony in the Park is a free event that showcases the unique beauty of Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park. (Please note that parking is limited, so alternate transportation is recommended.)
Discovery Day Festival, July 19th – Visit Deer Lake Park on Sunday, July 19th to experience Burnaby’s largest grass roots festival offering fun and creativity for the whole family. From 10:00am to 4:00pm, this kid-friendly event presents a variety of music, live theatre, street performances and interactive visual arts activities for children of all ages. As a community event, the 25th Annual Discovery Day Festival also showcases a number of services, organizations and groups that are involved in local arts and culture, heritage, sports, leisure and environmental activities. Admission is free to this fun-filled event.
10th Annual Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival, August 9th – Enjoy some of the most prominent and renowned blues and roots musicians from across North America and around the world at the Blues + Roots Festival on Sunday, August 9th. Produced by the City of Burnaby, this popular festival celebrates the best of this musical genre with soulful performances on two stages.
Held in picturesque Deer Lake Park, the event gates open at 1:30 with on-going performances from 2:30pm to 10:00pm. For young music lovers, this family-friendly event also features a variety of hands-on children’s activities.
