Civic Square Summers
Stay cool this summer at Burnaby’s Civic Square, where you’ll find plenty of free family-friendly activities and performances by some of the city’s top artists, musicians and performers.
Returning for a second year, the popular 2010 Summer Sundays program offers something for everyone and runs every Sunday from now until August 29th (except August 1st) from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Burnaby’s Civic Square. Spend some time at the movies… outside. Rain or shine, Burnaby’s Civic Square will host three Movie Nights in August. Just bring a blanket and some snacks, and then get cozy while enjoying your night at the movies. Movie Nights will take place from 8:30pm to 10:00pm on three Thursdays in August: August 5th, August 19th and August 26th. Located beside the Bob Prittie Library near Metrotown, Burnaby’s Civic Square includes a spacious grassy area offering ample opportunities to relax amid the beautiful scenery.

Farmers’ Market
Tempt your taste buds, enjoy the live music and celebrate the creative offerings of the Burnaby Farmers’ Market every Saturday from now until October 30th.
Along with conventional and organic produce, this festive weekly event features a children’s play area and an impressive array of ready-to-eat treats. Here, you’ll find sweet and savoury items such as jams and jellies, fresh salsa, sauces and a variety of freshly baked goods (and much more). Local artisans will also be on hand with specially-crafted pottery, woodwork, jewellery, soaps and other handmade products.
Beyond the crafts and cuisine, the market also features a book exchange, special family days and cooking competitions. Some of the special upcoming family days include BC Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving. Cooking competitions take place the first Saturday of each month at noon. (Just don’t forget your recipe!)
The Burnaby Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday from 9:00am to 2:00pm until October 30th at the Burnaby City Hall parking lot (next to Deer Lake Parkway near Canada Way).
