Shadbolt Centre Offers Year-Round Entertainment

This year, enjoy everything from timeless classics and funny musicals to lyrical opera, Broadway shows and much more at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

As an award-winning performing arts centre, the Shadbolt Centre presents a variety of fun, lively and engaging performances for the whole family.

Here are just a few of the upcoming events at the Shadbolt Centre:

February 4-5, Altar Boyz – Watch out, 'N Sync, the Altar Boyz are coming to town!  In this original and “sinfully funny musical,” watch as heartthrobs Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham – the gefilte fish out of water –sing, dance and praise the Lord with funk and rhyme.

February 18-21, Irene – As the longest running show on Broadway for two decades, Irene has earned its reputation as a musical favourite – entertaining audiences for more than 20 years.  Charm is the word for Irene... a special kind of charm, made up of equal parts comedy, vivacity, romance and nostalgia featuring much-loved numbers, such as Alice Blue Gown, You Made Me Love You and I'm Always Chasing Rainbows.

February 21, 23, 25, 26 & 28, The Barber of Seville – The Barber of Seville has withstood the test of time, not only as one of the “top 20” operas performed, but it has also been famously parodied in Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, The Simpsons – and the overture is played in the Beatles film Help!   Enjoy this classic comical opera in which Count Almaviva is in love with the young and beautiful Rosina; Rosina is in love with the poor student Lindoro; Rosina's guardian Dr. Bartolo wants to marry her for her inheritance and has imprisoned her in his house; Don Basilio, the music teacher, is helping Dr. Bartolo with his treacherous scheme; and Figaro, the town barber, is helping Count Almaviva in his romantic quest, while cleverly manipulating all the players.
