Burnaby Art Gallery presents: New Acquisitions

From now until January 18th, the Burnaby Art Gallery presents an exciting range of recently acquired artwork in its new exhibition, titled"New Acquisitions."

The show includes donated and purchased works of art on paper by many notable artists, including Jack Akroyd, Shirley Bear, B.C. Binning, Geoff Greene, E.J. Hughes, Deborah Koenker, Cameron Ian MacLeod, Peter Morin, Julie Morstad, Graham A. Scholes, Gordon Smith, Richard Tetrault and Lyle Wilson.

These interesting new acquisitions – created by leading Canadian artists – are part of the Gallery’s mandate to collect visual art objects of special historical, cultural and aesthetic significance.  In fact, the Burnaby Art Gallery houses the third largest public art museum collection in British Columbia, boasting some 4,267 catalogued works of art.

“To showcase works from the permanent collection is vital to the development and success of public art museums,” notes Darrin Martens, Burnaby Art Gallery Director.

“These exhibitions provide an opportunity for the museum to engage the communities that it serves, and provide a forum for visitors to view and comment on the direction that a particular museum has embarked on.”

Gallery programming for New Acquisitions includes:
