Stay the night...
Enjoy the best of the season at the Burnaby Rhododendron Festival on Sunday, May 2nd from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
A perennial favourite, the Rhododendron Festival is a free, fun and family-friendly event that features a variety of musical entertainment, as well as mini workshops, horticultural and nature tours, commercial plant sales, interactive arts activities and more. This year’s event also includes a silent auction, along with artisan and pottery sales (which are always crowd-pleasers!).
As a proudly green celebration, the Rhododendron Festival promotes the long-term sustainable and ecological health of our communities, and is produced collaboratively by the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Rhododendron & Gardens Society.
Burnaby’s inaugural Rhododendron Festival took place in 1988 when the Burnaby Beautification Committee organized a contest to name the rhododendron as Burnaby’s official floral symbol. Twenty-two years later, this event presents a very unique venue for both horticulture and arts groups. In fact, environmental sustainability and sound ecological practices in gardening are continually embraced and promoted by the many organizations that participate in the Rhododendron Festival year after year.
