Blossoming at the Burnaby Rhododendron Festival

Step into spring at the annual Burnaby Rhododendron Festival on Sunday, May 3rd from 9:30am to 4:00pm at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

This quaint green festival is a collaboration of the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Rhododendron and Gardens Society (BRAGS), and promotes the long-term sustainable and ecological health of our communities.

Now in its 21st year, this annual celebration began in 1988 when the Burnaby Beautification Committee organized a contest to name the Rhododendron as Burnaby’s official floral symbol.  Since then, this free and fun-filled festival has grown and bloomed into one of the city’s more popular events.

In creatively blending horticulture and art, the highlights for this year’s festival include a variety of musical entertainment, mini workshops, horticulture and nature tours, commercial plant sales and interactive arts activities.
