Four Women of a ‘Certain Age’ Wreak Joy, Music and Comedic Havoc!
Wit, wisdom, womanhood, harmonies, hilarity and hips weave the musical tapestry known as AUGUST. Four award-winning independent recording artists/songwriters—Rae Armour, Beverley Elliott, Linda Kidder and Meg Tennant—may not be spring chickens, but things are still cookin’ in the hen house! They are equally at home on stage or on the back porch, combining their unique blend of folk, country, bluegrass and pop.

Arts Club Theatre Company
February 7–8, 8:00pm
By Tennessee Williams
Directed by James Fagan Tait

A Portrait of a Family
Tennessee Williams’ semi-autobiographical masterpiece, The Glass Menagerie, is an astonishingly intimate and moving portrait of the Wingfield family. From a dingy St. Louis apartment, faded Southern belle Amanda yearns for her idealized youth, while her grown children, Tom and Laura, struggle to escape their overbearing mother. Just when happiness seems beyond the grasp of these fragile individuals, hope arrives in the form of a gentleman caller.

Burnaby Lyric Opera
February 23, 28 & March 1, 8:00pm
Februray 25, 27, 2:00pm
By Johann Strauss Jr.
Stage directed by Matthew Bissett, music directed by David Boothroyd

Gabriel von Eisenstein plays a practical joke on Dr. Falke. A year later, Eisenstein is saying a tearful farewell to his wife as he prepares to go to jail for 14 days for insulting a public official. Falke sees this as a perfect “recipe for revenge”.  And revenge is a glass best served filled with the finest Champagne! Die Fledermaus is a bubbly confection of score-settling, infidelity and mistaken identities, starting at the wildest Masked Ball in 1870’s Vienna and ending the next morning in the chaos of a county jail. A festival of sparkling tunes bound together by a plot and a cast of characters that makes a virtue of absurdity.
