Easter Bunny Approved: A Guide to Chocolate in Burnaby
With Easter coming up just around the corner, here are some of our favourite Easter Bunny approved chocolate shops in Burnaby:
This family-owned and operated business has been an Easter Bunny favourite since it opened its doors in 1970. The company has since opened a second location, but only the original Burnaby location features the “one and only” chocolate river that flows with real chocolate! Charlie’s offers a wide variety of Easter-Bunny-approved products made from Callebaut chocolate imported directly from Belgium, including chocolates for diabetics, a large selection of molded items around, supplies for do-it-yourself candy-making and rentals of Chocolate Fountains.
Lead by award-winning chocolatier Christophe Bonzon, Chez Christophe Chocolaterie Patisserie is located in the bustling Burnaby Heights district. The Burnaby location has a modern European ambience and features interior seating for 19, along with outdoor patio during the warmer months. Starting on March 14th, a brigade of chocolate bunnies will be hopping into the shop with their new line of edible chocolate art, featuring five new chocolate bunnies – a royal guard, chef, carrot, hockey player, and lumberjack. This year, Chez Christophe has partnered with the BC SPCA, and two dollars from each Roger Canuck chocolate bunny sold will be donated to the organization.
Headquartered in Burnaby, Hagensborg Chocolates is best known for their Truffle Pig truffles and Wild Boar bars. These tasty treats are available at most grocery stores in the Lower Mainland, and the Easter Bunny is a big fan. In their mission to make the world a little sweeter, Hagensborg Chocolates sources its cacao beans directly from farmers in Central America with strong human values, and pays them a premium above world market price – so we can feel good about pigging out on these truffles!
